inDrive South Africa has partnered with Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) to transform an undeveloped 2.6-hectare site in Naledi, Soweto, into a new community park, with an investment of R6 million.
Located at PK2707 Nape Street, Stand 376, the site currently has no public amenities. The project aims to provide residents with a safe and accessible recreational space where children can play, families can gather, and community members can exercise and enjoy the outdoors.
The development will take place in three phases over three years, with the first phase marking the beginning of the transformation. Phase 2 is scheduled for 2027, while Phase 3 in 2028 is expected to include a football field.

Ashif Black, country representative at inDrive South Africa, says the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to investing in communities beyond its transport services.
โMoving people through a community also means becoming part of that community, and we believe that relationship should extend beyond the journeys people take with us,โ says Black.
He adds that the project will turn unused land into a valuable public space where children can play, residents can exercise, and families and neighbours can connect.
Black emphasised that the investment is intended to create a lasting community asset that encourages outdoor activities and strengthens social connections.

Johannesburg Executive Mayor Councillor Dada Morero welcomed the investment, highlighting the importance of safe public spaces for children and families.
โA childโs opportunity to play safely should never depend on their postcode. This investment in Naledi recognises the dignity of our residents and the value of public spaces where families can gather with confidence,โ says Morero.
He thanked inDrive for its contribution, describing it as an investment that will help turn the vision of accessible recreational facilities into a lasting community asset.
The partnership between inDrive and JCPZ is expected to see the Naledi site gradually develop into a recreational destination serving residents and surrounding communities as the three phases are completed.
