The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has intensified nightlife by-law enforcement operations across the City of Johannesburg.

Officers conducted high-visibility operations at Inner City establishments, including Shela’s Place at the corner of Leyds and Wanderers streets, as well as Jozi City Night Club.

During the operations, patrons were subjected to stop-and-searches aimed at preventing illegal weapons and substances from entering nightlife venues.

JMPD officers also responded to noise nuisance complaints. Some music systems were impounded following alleged non-compliance with municipal by-laws.

JMPD says similar operations are being conducted across all regions of Johannesburg and warns nightlife establishments that noise disturbances and other by-law violations will not be tolerated.

Residents can report municipal by-law violations to JMPD on 011 375 5911.
